KLIMAX

Cuba

Taken along by drummer
Giraldo Piloto, Klimax asserts itself as a serious challenger of the best cuban groups.

CD selection :

Mira si te gusta
(Manzana ; 1996)

Juegos de manos
(Manzana ; 1997)
It should be said that Giraldo Piloto crowned one trade. Regarded as one of the best cuban arrangers of the moment, he sharpens his first professional weapons with Orquesta Cabaret Tropicana  in 1980, before integrating NG La Banda : for a school, we can find worse !

In 1988, begins Piloto collaboration with Issac Delgado, for whom he becomes musical director.

It is provided with these references that he launches Klimax in 1995, followed by first album, Mira si te gusta in 1996.

Their concerts in France in 1996 started enthusiasm. It is true that their salsa, highly seasoned by a ladle of jazz and a good spoonful New York funk, is of an unquestionable effectiveness. However HOT SALSA issued reserves then : the excellent arrangements, the bias towards the renewal of the genre and the obvious virtuosity of the musicians had difficulty to make forget the poverty of the compositions... and these defects were even more obvious on the CD.

In short, we felt in the presence of a group having unquestionable capacities to play in the court of the greatest, but still missing maturity.

The 1997 vintage (Juegos of manos) is definitely a cut above. So much the better: with Klimax, we have a first class band, which improves over time : often the mark of best... so, here's a group to follow through.
